Chef Rhodello Nuval - Korean Bi Bim Bop |

A Classic Korean dish which means, "mixed rice," that usually has 4-5 vegetables such as carrots, zucchini, spinach, bean sprouts and is topped with bbq beef and a fried egg.

Bi Bim Bop Ingredients:
2 cups White rice
2 cups water
2 oz lean beef thinly sliced
2 tbsp soysauce
6 tsp sesame oil
Seasoning sauce (recipe below)
Red pepper paste
2 tsp/4 stems green onion
2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 lb bean sprouts
3 tsp salt
2 regular size cucumbers
2 lettuce leaves

Seasoning Sauce Ingredients:
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp rice wine
1 tbsp chopped green onion
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp sesame oil
Black pepper

The Beef:
Cut the beef into thin strips and stir-fry with:
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp sesame seed
1 tsp green onion
1/2 tsp garlic
touch of black pepper

The Cucumbers:
Julien cut the cucumber into strip pieces and sprinkle with salt. Squeeze out the moisture and stir-fry in:
1 tsp salt and
1/2 tsp sesame oil

The Sprouts:
Scald the bean sprouts in:
1/2 cup boiling salt water, drain and mix with
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp green onion
and 1/2 tsp garlic

The Product:
Cook the rice separately in a rice cooker and then bring it all together in plating and display for your guests.
Fry the egg to your liking. The egg is optional and used as a topping. Serve the vegetables, rice, and meat with the seasoned red pepper paste by layering your rice first, portion out your vegetables like a pin wheel with the meat in the center and the red pepper paste on a sauce bowl since not everybody likes hot spicy food.
This will give your guests the oppertunity to savor your labor and enjoy mixing all the spices and ingredients together in the bowl.
